One of the first things you have to really tackle on your spiritual journey is the idea of fear: Fear is a controlling factor in our lives. We’re afraid of everything these days:
Debt
Punishment
Pain
Death
To name but a few. It is this fear that will stop your growing to your full potential. So what can you do about the fear? well one of my favourite ways to tackle fear is just to charge head first into it, say your afraid of Public speaking, that’s very common, in fact more people are afraid of public speaking than of Death, so its a good one to tackle.
First you have to accept that you are afraid of it. Imagine speaking in front of a large audience and feel the fear.
Then Stop!
Why do you feel that fear?
Is it the fear of failure? Do you think you will mess up? You will forget? You will stutter? Etc…
Guess what? You will.
Even some of the words greatest comedians make mistakes, forget lines, get embarrassed and what not. The only way to stop that is just to practice and practice. Which leads me onto my next technique:
Practice, Practice and Practice some more.
Have you ever heard the saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again” Well take heed of it! Do you think we discovered Nuclear Energy because we tried to find it only once? Do you think top athletes quit if they lose one race? Do you think top students quit if they fail one exam? No of course not. You learn from those mistakes and then make sure you don’t make them again. Simple as that.
So you are afraid of doing this public speech in front of your peers on whatever topic you can think of, it nots important. But your afraid. Your main concerns are:
They Won’t listen
They’ll laugh at me
I will make a mistake
I will forget my words
And on this list goes. But whilst you are sat there worrying, someone else who is doing another speech is at their computer, typing, and re-typing their speech, they will practice on their family, on their friends, in their head, they will make sure they don’t make as many mistakes. Whilst you sit at home feeling sorry for yourself, focussing on the Woe-is-me.
OK. OK. You say, but you said that even top Comedians and the like make mistakes, so what’s stopping me from cocking up, even if I did all this practice?
And this is the biggest thing I am going to talk about during this article:
Subjective Reality.
Subjective Reality is the Keystone to having a better life. It is the Holy Grail of life. When you use the Subjective Model in your life, the Ramifications are immense.
Subjective Reality is a model of reality which states that all things exist within one consciousness, and you, the Avatar with which you identify, is the singular point in which this mass consciousness is focussed on. Sounds a little freaky I know. But bare with me.
Last year I found some information on another site about Subjective reality. And let me tell you, I figured that it was interesting, but not really, viable. It sounded like wishful thinking, and a nice idea, but with no real backing. However when you analyse it thoroughly, it makes a whole lot of sense. Let me explain.
In your dreams, you interact with people and things which seem to be separate from you in the dream, and they all appear to have independent thoughts to you right. But you know they don’t. How can they? They exist within your own mind. Even you, as a dream avatar, do not exist, you are a projection of your own consciousness. Now in a dream you don’t know you are dreaming. You believe everything is real. Now imagine if that were true for the so-called “Real” world. Would you still be afraid of giving that speech if you knew everyone was just a projection of your own consciousness?
OK I am going to leave this article there for now, I will let you think over what I have said and hopefully you will come to your own conclusions. I don’t want to spoon feed you OK.
In the next article I will focus on just how the Subjective model of reality can affect your reality in such profound ways.
Until Next time.
